Rihanna Made a Major Donation to New York Healthcare Workers

Rihanna has made another big donation to help those fighting on the frontlines against the coronavirus.

On Thursday evening, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted thanking the pop star (and beauty mogul and fashion designer and humanitarian) for her donation of personal protective equipment to the state.

“I want to thank @rihanna and the Rihanna Foundation for donating Personal Protective Equipment to New York State,” he wrote. “We’re so appreciative of your help and that of so many others who have stepped up.”

It’s not clear how much Rihanna donated to the state, but she also previously donated $5 million to coronavirus response efforts across the globe. Personal protective equipment is a catch-all term that can include face masks, gloves, body suits, and other equipment used to minimize exposure to contagion. In recent weeks, New York state has experienced a shortage of PPE as the number of cases of coronavirus has risen.

In other Rihanna news, she also casually dropped a song on Friday morning. She made her return to music (after three years!) with a feature on PartyNextDoor’s new track “Believe It.”

All in a week’s work for Rihanna.
