Dolce & Gabbana Sponsor LGBTQ Youth Scholarship

Dolce & Gabbana recently announced a partnership with the Point Foundation, the largest scholarship-granting nonprofit organization in the United States for LGBTQ+ youth. The Point Flagship Scholarship is currently the largest scholarship fund geared toward LGBTQ students earning their bachelor’s, graduate, or doctoral degrees. Scholarship recipients through the Point Foundation have grown from 8 recipients in 2000 to 552 anticipated scholars in 2023. The Italian fashion brand is proud to establish the Dolce & Gabbana Point Scholarship by funding a four-year study in fashion or a related field at an accredited U.S. college or university. The chosen recipient will be revealed in June 2023 with the scholarship starting in September 2023 for the 2023-24 school year.

The Point foundation considers a number of factors when selecting scholarship recipients, including academics, leadership, community involvement, financial need, and LGBTQ advocacy. The following eligibiity requirements must be met:

  • Enrollment at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university
  • Identification as an “out” LGBTQ community member
  • Graduating high school senior or community college transfer student

Once a recipient is selected, the following requirements must be met to retain the scholarship:

  • Full-time college enrollment for the entire academic year
  • Enrolled in a degree-granting bachelors or graduate program
  • Attendance at the summer Point National Leadership Conference in Los Angeles

Dolce & Gabbana Raises LGBTQ Awareness Through Product Lines

In addition to being proud members of the LGBTQ community, founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are committed to raising LGBTQ awareness through their product lines. Their DGFamily campaign includes a variety of families in its designs, with an effort toward normalizing all types of nonconventional families, including straight, gay, and lesbian couples with their children. Along with the products themselves, which included backpacks, handbags, and children’s clothing, the campaign included street art depicting diverse family groups throughout major fashion cities like London, Milan, and New York. The fashion brand is devoted to celebrating uniqueness, individuality, and acceptance in family relationships worldwide.

Dolce & Gabbana Supports the Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention organization, with particular emphasis on providing support to LGBTQ+ youth through counseling and intervention services. In February 2022 Dolce & Gabbana created a campaign called Love Is Love that celebrated LGBTQ relationships through a variety of 90s throwback ads, partnered with financial support for The Trevor Project.
